Degree Requirements
In order to complete a major in the Department of Psychology, you must fulfill the following requirements:
B.A. Track
To complete a major in psychology, students must complete 36 credits in psychology with a grade of "C" or better (grades of C- are not accepted) as outlined below; 18 credits MUST be taken at UNM to satisfy the residence requirement. Major requirements are only one small portion of your undergraduate degree.
- PSY 105/PSYC 1110 (3 credits)
- PSY 200/PSYC 2510 (3 credits)
- Four courses (12 credits) selected from our six 200 level core courses:
- PSY 220/PSYC 2120, PSY 240/PSYC 2250, PSY 260/PSYC 2270, PSY 265/PSYC 2220, PSY 271/PSYC 2110, PSY 280/PSYC 2320
- Psychology 302 (3 credits)
- Four courses (12 credits) at the 300 level or above
- Three credits of Psychology electives
- The 36 hours required for a major can include no more than 6 hours of PSYCH 499
