Aims and Founders

The aim of these awards is to commend the work of our undergraduate honors students with awards for Outstanding Thesis and Outstanding Student.

Founded by her family, these awards are made in honor of Rachael Nicole Dowler (1972-2000), a UNM graduate and Psychology Honors student.  Rachael, a recipient of the Outstanding Psychology Honors Student Award herself, was well on her way to receiving her Ph.D. in Clinical Medical Psychology from the University of Alabama, Birmingham when she succumbed to respiratory complications due to Cystic Fibrosis in September, 2000.
