Faculty Position

The UNM Department of Psychology invites applications for a faculty position at the level of Assistant, Associate, or Professor with tenure (as applicable) to begin August 2018.  Candidates must have earned a doctoral degree in Psychology or related discipline in hand by the start date of appointment, have an established record of publications, and a record of teaching (broadly defined) consistent with rank.  Applicants would be required to show evidence of publications, research impact, and funding consistent with rank.

We seek an outstanding academic who can contribute to the research and teaching missions in the areas of Cognitive Psychology or Cognitive Neuroscience, with substantial expertise in human memory and cognition - including topics such as normal and abnormal aging, psychopathology, and clinical neuropsychology.  Successful candidates for this position will be expected to teach and mentor at the undergraduate, graduate, and post-doctoral levels, and demonstrate a commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and students success, as well as working with broadly diverse communities.  We are particularly interested in a candidate who develops and/or utilizes neuroimaging (EEG, MRI, or other related technologies), genetics/epigenetics and/or computational modeling.  The specific research focus and area(s) of expertise should complement existing areas of strength and research interests within the department, including cognitive science, cognitive neuroscience and psychopathology, as well as addiction research, evolutionary psychology and others.  The successful candidate will have numerous opportunities for collaboration within the department and the thriving research centers affiliated with UNM, including the Psychology Clinical Neuroscience Center; the Mind Research Network; the Center on Alcoholism, Substance Abuse, and Addictions; the Brain and Behavioral Health Institute; the UNM Cancer Center; UNM Health Sciences Center; the Division of Community Behavioral Health, the New Mexico Alcohol Research Center; and the Center for Health Policy at UNM.  A successful track record of external funding and/or high potential to obtain external funding is preferred.

UNM is the state's flagship University and is one of only two Hispanic-serving, Carnegie Research/Doctoral-extensive institutions in the US.  UNM is located in Albuquerque, the largest urban area within one of the most diverse states in the nation.  The UNM main and Health Sciences campuses are adjacent to one another, facilitating interdisciplinary collaboration.
