Alcohol Assessment and Treatment

Serving Albuquerque and Surrounding Communities

Are you concerned about your drinking? Are you concerned about the drinking of a loved one?

@UNM is an outpatient alcohol-treatment clinic, available to residents of Albuquerque and surrounding areas. We welcome both voluntary and mandated clients.

We are located within the UNM Psychology Clinic on the main campus of the University of New Mexico.

WHAT CAN I EXPECT IF I CALL?

To better understand your situation, we will ask you a brief set of questions over the phone, provide information about the clinic, and answer any questions you have. You may call us to leave a message on our confidential voice mailbox at (505) 277-5165.

WHAT CAN I EXPECT IF I MAKE AN APPOINTMENT?

Every individual who comes into the clinic will be administered an alcohol assessment. Discussion will then be made with the individual about treatment options and goals.

PAYMENT

@UNM aims to offer affordable options for the treatment of alcohol use disorders. At this time, @UNM does not accept insurance. We currently offer a low-cost, sliding scale payment method, based on your income.

@UNM IS A TRAINING CLINIC

All alcohol assessments and treatment services are conducted by UNM Clinical Psychology graduate students. All students are supervised by licensed clinical psychologists who have experience working with clients with substance-abuse concerns.

TREATMENT SUPERVISORS

  • Barbara McCrady, Ph.D.
  • Theresa Moyers, Ph.D.
  • Jane Ellen Smith, Ph.D.
  • Kamilla Venner, Ph.D.
  • Katie Witkiewitz, Ph.D.
CONFIDENTIALITY

@UNM maintains a strict policy of confidentiality. With very few exceptions, no information will be given to anyone outside the clinic. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to call.

MISSION STATEMENT

We believe in an individualized, collaborative approach to treatment. An assessment will be provided to each client, and treatment plans will be individualized to clients’ specific goals and needs. When possible, empirically supported assessments and treatments will be conducted.

We believe that abstinence may be the best choice for some clients but not for others. We will work with clients to develop and work towards their own treatment goals.
