Research Interests
Functional neuroimaging and cognitive
neuroscience: We utilize
magnetoencephalography (MEG) and electroencephalography (EEG) to
image brain dynamics during the processing of sensory input and
performance of various memory tasks. Our focus is on developing
and applying analysis methods that reveal and characterize network
phenomena in the normal and abnormal human brain. We are particularly
interested in the participation of limbic structures and cerebellum
in cognitive brain networks. Recently we have initiated several
research projects that utilize stereotactic transcranial magnetic
stimulation (TMS) to induce transient changes in network function.
This effort is conducted in collaboration with colleagues in central
Finland.
